title: The Difference Between
creator: Billy McCall
According to the back cover of the zine, the idea for it started with the author’s misunderstanding of Monaco and Morocco. So he created a zine with side-by-side comparisons of other things he confused.
The zine is surprisingly didactic with its brief and concise descriptions that allow easy understanding and absorption. The juxtaposition of the compared subjects are humorous yet helpful, such as Billiards vs. Pool, Communism vs. Socialism, 28 Days vs. 28 Days Later.
While some of the subjects presented might not be as commonly misunderstood as others, I am sure something will be new to someone. In fact, I’ve always confused 28 Days and 28 Days Later, and now I actually know they’re two separate movies! You never know what you’ll glean from bargain zines.
